It feels good to be back in Lyon again. We have been heads-down, working on our “new”
house, and then there was Anna’s 50th High School reunion at the end
of May. (Couldn’t miss that!) But, we are now back in the same apartment on
rue Moncey and feeling very much at home.

The
weather has been pretty warm, but lately we have had some rather spectacular
electric storms at night which have cooled things down nicely. Very civilized, only raining at night!
We’ve connected with our landlords and good friends, Roger
and Dominique, as well as Philippe and Angeline at the boulangerie across the
street. And, we have been warmly greeted
(bises) by the proprietors of La Ficelle, our favorite spot for a light meal of
gallette, omelet, croque monsieur, or whatever, or just a carafe of cool Rosé. The folks at La Ficelle told us about a
10-day tour they took that included, among other places, Florida, Santa
Barbara, and Toronto; that’s a lot of ground to cover in 10 days! They were very impressed by California
wines. (We’ve heard that from other
people we know in Lyon, and they always seem surprised.) And, we are looking forward to lunch this
coming Friday with Estelle, our French “daughter” (exchange student).
We’re pretty much over the jet-lag finally and starting to dive into activities here in Lyon.
